PLAY of the DAY” by Brian Nadeau

Date  4/17/25

Featured track  Keeneland

Race number  5

Race overview   A deep and competitive N1X for 3up at 5 ½ Fs on the turf.

Pace  It’s a turf sprint, so things should be honest up front, though on paper there aren’t a ton of true burners in here, so a stalking gear will likely come in handy.

Trends  They just don’t run enough turf races to have any kind of trends you can lean on, but as a general rule of thumb, this is a much fairer surface than a GP, which was all speed all the time this winter.

Best Play  #8 PIVOTAL MOMENT (4-1) (turf only): GP invader was stunning winning his comeback off a eight-month layoff, and he did it against the course profile as well, as he settled early and blasted home late, which suggests he’ll love this course, and that he’s only using this as a stepping-stone to a stakes in the near future.

Bet Types    Aggressive WP bet and single to end the early Pk5/Pk4, and to kick off the late Pk5 as well.
