Play of the Day – April 16th 2022
Play of the Day | |
Race Date | April 16, 2022 |
Track | Keeneland |
Race | 9 |
Overview | A solid renewal of the G3 Lexington, with 20 Derby qualifying points on the line for the winner. |
Pace | There’s very little on paper, and some of the favorites are deep closers—and it must be noted this 1 1/16-mile distance runs to the first finish line, which is a big disadvantage to those types. |
Trends | It’s been tough to get a gauge on how the main track is playing, since a few of the cards have been run on off tracks to start and then converted to fast by the end of the day, but Wednesday and Thursday definitely tilted towards speed. |
Best Bet | MAJOR GENERAL |
Number | 7 |
Morning Line | (4-1) |
Best Bet Overview | #7 MAJOR GENERAL (4-1): Stakes winning 2yo lost all chance at the start in his G2 comeback at Tampa but Pletcher forges on, adds blinkers, and Irad lands here too, and in a race where the lead is there for the taking, expect an aggressive ride if this son of Constitution gets an alert beginning. |
Picks & Plays | Aggressive WP bet and a potential single/must-use in the late Pk5/Pk4 as well. |
